This was a large flat iron roof with extensive surface rust. Following a high-pressure water clean in this Roof Painting Case Studies 1 example we treated the rust with a “Rust Encapsulator” – Rust Encapsulator can be applied over lightly rusted metal, or even clean bare metal, and seals it from moisture and corrosion. The encapsulator flows into hard to reach spots, penetrates deep into the rust, and even fills in minor pinholes and surface imperfections – Following this the roof was sprayed with a galvanized metal primer to further provide ongoing rust protection. Finally the roof was coated with 2 coats of Dulux Cool Roof Surfmist Roof Surface Coating to provide summer sun protection.
This Tile Roof Restoration involved both a separate garage and the house. The owner was restoring the property and the eves were asbestos. To remove the asbestos the hip ends had to be fully removed. The tile type is called a Hollowstone which is difficult to clean as it has valley under the front of the tile which must be cleaned. Following cleaning in this Roof Painting Case Studies 2 example we repaired the hip ends that needed to be re-bed with new concrete, then all the ridge caps were repointed with a specialist pointing product that covers all cracks, locks in the ridge caps, yet expands and contracts with the weather. This was a relatively straightforward job where the owners were simply wishing to undertake a Roof Colour Restoration to their concrete tile roof. The previous colour was a light brown and it was changed to Monument which is in the dark grey range.
